SBDC Workshop

ECUA's Pete Wilkinson, purchasing and stores manager, speaks to SBDC Attendees

On Friday, February 18, the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority, with the support of the Florida Small Business Development Center, and the UWF Procurement Technical Assistance Center Program, presented a free workshop on, “How to do Business with the ECUA.”

The workshop provided information and business strategies to small business entrepreneurs, focusing on the processes and formalities involved in doing business with the ECUA, while increasing participation in bidding on future ECUA contracts.

The topics covered included information about the bidding process, financial tools, contractual and qualification requirements, future business opportunities, and how the ECUA hiring process is conducted.

A larger than expected crowd attended the event to hear ECUA speakers Bill Johnson, director of engineering, Peter Wilkinson, purchasing and store manager, Rick Anderson, director of human resources and administrative services and Drug Free Workplace representative, Ms. Brenda Waltrip.

The event is the first in a series of workshops the ECUA has scheduled in 2011 targeting small business entrepreneurs, women business entrepreneurs, and minority business entrepreneurs.
