ECUA business offices will be closed on Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.  Offices will reopen on Monday, November 27.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY ONLY:

All residential sanitation, recycling, and yard trash collections for ECUA customers that would normally be made on Thursday, Nov. 23, or Friday, Nov. 24 will be made one day later, on Friday, Nov. 24 or Saturday, Nov. 25, respectively. 

All commercial sanitation collections for ECUA customers that would normally be made on Thursday, Nov. 23, will be made one day earlier, on Wednesday, Nov. 22.  There are no changes to the schedule for commercial services scheduled on Friday, Nov. 24, or Saturday, November 25.

 

SANTA ROSA COUNTY (NORTH-END) and THE TOWN OF JAY ONLY:

 

There will be no garbage or yard trash collection on Thanksgiving Day, Nov.  23.  Garbage and yard trash will be collected on the next normally scheduled collection day for that route (Monday).  Recycling collection scheduled for Thursday, November 23, will be collected on Saturday November 25.

ECUA Offices Open, Customer Service Office Closed

Sanitation Schedules Unaffected

 

ECUA business offices, facilities, and the drive-thru payment lane at the Ellyson Industrial Park Campus will be open on Friday, November 10, however, the Customer Service office and walk-in payment area will be closed in observance of the Veteran’s Day holiday.

 

All residential sanitation, recycling, yard trash collections and commercial sanitation collections will remain on their usual schedules and will not be affected by the holiday.

ECUA Adopts Simplified Telephone Answering Menu

ECUA Adopts Simplified Telephone Answering Menu

Effective immediately, the ECUA’s telephone answering menu has changed and has been simplified to provide an easier and more direct experience for callers.   Overall, the messages and answering menu have been shortened, and some of the available options have been combined to simplify the process.  One option has been added to direct customers wishing to receive service in Spanish to a bilingual customer service representative.

ECUA Yard Waste Collection Volumes High Due to Hurricane Nate,
Collection Times Behind Usual Schedules


Due to continued increased volumes of yard debris following Hurricane Nate, ECUA yard waste collections in Escambia County may again run behind normal schedules throughout this week.  Routes last week ran behind and all were collected by the end of the day on Saturday.  

With last weekend's pleasant weather, residents have continued post-storm clean-up and gardening, considerably adding to the yard debris placed curbside.  All routes/collections will be completed although some customers may have their yard waste collected later in the day than they normally do, or their yard waste may be collected on the following day.  All collections will be completed by the end of the day on Saturday, October 21.  Yard waste, as defined by the ECUA Sanitation Program, includes leaves, pine straw, grass clippings and small prunings.

To help ensure collections are completed as promptly as possible residents are asked to:

·         Please not use their garbage or recycling can for yard waste. Yard waste is collected separately from household garbage and recyclables so as to be composted.

·         Place bagged, bundled, or canned yard waste within two feet of the curb and away from the street/road.

·         Contain small yard waste, leaves, pine straw and grass clippings in standard garbage containers or bags (preferably compostable) that do not exceed 32 gallons in size or weigh more than 40 pounds when full. The ECUA will collect up to 20 yard trash bags or cans each week.

·         Cut limbs should not exceed six feet in length or 40 pounds in weight, and placed in two piles of no more than two 6’ W x 6’ D x 6’ H.

·         Ensure that yard waste is placed by the curb for collection by 5:30 a.m. on the normal collection day.

Customers are asked to call ECUA Customer Service at 476-0480 if their yard waste has not been collected by the end of the day following their regular collection day.
