Effective immediately, a precautionary boil water notice has been issued by the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority to customers located in the following areas:
This notice is being issued following the repair of broken fire hydrant and an 8-inch water main. Precautionary boil water notices are issued as part of standard protocol following any loss of water pressure, whether as a result of planned maintenance activities or unscheduled repairs.
Residents located in the specified PBWN area are advised to boil water for one minute at a rolling boil or to use eight drops of regular unscented household bleach per gallon of water and let it sit for 30 minutes before use for drinking or cooking. Bacteriological sampling has been initiated, and the advisory will be lifted as soon as possible. This process routinely takes 48 hours.
ECUA crews completed the repair work and have flushed the lines. Residents within the Precautionary Boil Water Notice area and nearby are advised that there is a possibility of discolored water as a result of the utility work, and should flush household plumbing by running taps for several minutes. If problems persist, customers are asked to contact ECUA Customer Service at 850-476-0480 for assistance.
Customers are encouraged to sign up for time-sensitive alerts regarding information related to their ECUA service via the ECUA Notification System. Alerts will be directed to whichever device(s) you specify, such as your home or work phone(s), mobile devices, email, or text messages. Sign up here.
