A Sanitary Sewer Overflow -SSO- occurred on January 21, 2026 in the vicinity of 5510 Grande Lagoon Boulevard after a private utility contractor damaged a six-inch sewer force main. The overflow was estimated at 32,350 gallons, all of which was recovered by vacuum truck and transported to an ECUA water reclamation facility for proper treatment and disposal. 

ECUA crews repaired the main and cleaned the overflow area with a biocide agent that abated any contamination concerns, per State protocol. In accordance with standard operating procedure, the ECUA notified the State Warning Point, the Escambia County Health Department, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection at the time of the overflow.
