Sanitary Sewer Overflow

A Sanitary Sewer Overflow -SSO- occurred on March 26, 2024, at 7132 Apple Street due to a broken Air Release Valve (ARV) on a sewer force main. The overflow was estimated at 45,00 gallons, of which 16,200 gallons were recovered and transported to an ECUA water reclamation facility for proper treatment and disposal. The overflow was contained onsite and bacteriological sampling was not required.

ECUA crews repaired the ARV and cleaned the overflow area with a biocide agent that abated any contamination concerns, per State protocol. In accordance with standard operating procedure, the ECUA notified the State Warning Point, the Escambia County Health Department, and the FDEP.
