The monthly charge for sanitation service is $31.33 for one weekly pick-up that includes:

• Household garbage

The ECUA provides every residential sanitation customer with two 90-gallon containers: one with a green lid for garbage and one with a gray lid for recycling. Customers who prefer two garbage cans instead of one garbage and one recycling can request a cart swap by contacting Customer Service. Up to three additional 90-gallon garbage or recycling containers are available for $5.21 per month per container. No more than four cans, in any combination, will be provided.

All ECUA residential sanitation customers may now, for an additional charge, call ECUA customer service to request an additional pick-up of their garbage can. The charge for this service is $15.07 per can, per pick-up. This service is intended to assist customers who may have an unusually high volume of garbage on a pick-up day, and is offered only on the regularly scheduled collection day or the following business day. For example, if your collection day is Friday, you can schedule an extra pick-up for Friday (a second pick-up after your normal service) or on Monday. Bulk Waste Pickup

We're here to make disposal easy and convenient for you! As of July 1st, 2023, bulk waste pickup is a requested service. To make a request, please submit Bulk Pickup Request form online or call ECUA at 850-476-0480. Requests must be made by 2:00 pm the day before your collection.

Steps to Follow for Bulk Waste Pickup:

1. Submit Bulk Pickup Request online or call ECUA at 850-476-0480 to request your bulk waste collection. Requests must be made by 2:00 p.m. the day before your collection day. When requesting your collection, list all items being placed at the curb so we can properly prepare for your pickup.

2. Place Items at the Curb: Ensure all bulk items are placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your collection day. Items should not be placed earlier than 48 hours before the scheduled pick-up.

3. Clear the Area: Check to make sure the area around your bulk items is free of obstacles like tree limbs, cars, fences, or mailboxes. This ensures that our trucks can safely access and collect your items.

4. Size Limit: ECUA will collect one pile of bulk items per week, with a maximum size of 6’ W x 6’ D x 6’ H. Please make sure your pile does not exceed this size. We use these bulk waste size limits to prevent overloading the garbage trucks, which reduces the number of trips to the landfill and ensures we can complete all requested bulk waste pickups on time.
 
Online service requests are reviewed by ECUA Customer Service staff during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Requests submitted outside of these hours will be reviewed and processed on the next scheduled business day.

Accepted Bulk Items Include:

• General furniture (e.g., couches, desks, chairs, dressers)
• Small appliances (e.g., vacuum cleaners, microwaves)
• Bicycles
• Grills
• Lawn mowers (drained of gasoline and oil)
• Large toys (remove lithium-ion batteries)
• Household electronics (e.g., computers, monitors, TVs)
• Toilets (limit of 2)
• Tubs (limit of 1)
• Small bathroom vanity
• Tires (must be separated from other bulk waste; limit of 5 per month; no commercial equipment tires)
• Large appliances/white goods (e.g., refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves, freezers)
• Large amounts of cardboard (please flatten all boxes)

Items Outside Regular Bulk Pickup:

For items that exceed the standard bulk pickup guidelines, ECUA offers an Extra Sanitation Service for an additional fee. This service is ideal for handling:

• Construction debris (e.g., fencing, sheetrock, carpet)
• Excess trash that is not considered bulk items

ECUA offers two refuse collection discount services for senior citizens meeting certain guidelines. The purpose of the special program is to provide senior citizens with a limited residential garbage collection service at a discounted service fee based on the traditionally lower volume of refuse generated by seniors. The two special refuse collection services are the Senior Citizen Lifeline Rate and Senior Citizen Rate.

ECUA provides yard waste collection service once weekly to all residential customers. We gladly collect up to 20 yard waste bags (preferably compostable paper) each week and two piles of cut limbs. Yard waste, as defined by the ECUA Sanitation program, includes: leaves, weeds, pine straw, grass clippings and small prunings. In effect, yard waste is vegetative debris that was grown in your yard. Yard waste DOES NOT include fencing or other construction materials, which we can not collect. Please follow these simple guidelines when disposing of yard waste:

• Do not use your garbage or recycling can for yard waste. Yard waste is collected separately from household garbage.
• Place bagged, bundled, or canned yard waste within two feet of the curb and away from the street/road.
• Small yard waste, leaves, pine straw and grass clippings must be contained in standard garbage containers or plastic bags that do not exceed 32 gallons in size or weigh more than 40 pounds when full. ECUA will collect up to 20 plastic yard trash bags or cans each week.
• Cut limbs should not exceed six feet in length or 40 pounds in weight, and must be bundled in two piles of no more than 6’ W x 6’ D x 6’ H piles.
• Yard Waste, as defined by the ECUA Sanitation Program, includes: leaves, pine straw, grass clippings and small prunings.

ECUA does not collect hazardous materials, including car or truck batteries, propane tanks, paint, pool chemicals, or pesticides. These items should be safely disposed of through Escambia County’s Household Hazardous Waste program.

Residents are also encouraged to participate in Escambia County’s Neighborhood Cleanups, which offer convenient opportunities to dispose of a wide range of materials in designated areas throughout the year.
