Emerald Coast Utilities Authority (ECUA) Executive Director, Stephen E. Sorrell was among the top business and community leaders honored as “Professional Leader of the Year,” during the 51st Annual Pensacola Area Commitment to Excellence (PACE) Awards, hosted by the Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce at the Pensacola Beach Hilton.

As the ECUA Executive Director, Sorrell serves at the pleasure of a five-member elected Board and is the Chief Executive Officer for the daily operations of the Authority.

He is a registered Professional Engineer, has earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from the University of Dayton and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Cincinnati (U.C).  He has also done considerable work toward a Ph.D. degree in Political Science, Public Administration at U.C.

Prior to joining the ECUA in October 2002, Sorrell served as the City Manager in Hamilton, Ohio, where he also had served as the Assistant City Manager, Finance Director and Transportation Engineer.  He previously served in various engineering capacities with the Hamilton County Engineer's Office and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The PACE Awards were created by the Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and is the area's premier celebration of visionary entrepreneurs, business and civic leaders, and exemplary corporate citizens.
