Santa Rosa County Solid Waste Services

The ECUA provides solid waste, recycling, bulk waste, and yard trash collection to residential properties within the unincorporated area of Santa Rosa County, north of the Yellow River.  Residential collection service is available by request by calling the ECUA Customer Service Center at (850) 476-0480, or by completing the email request form on this page.


Residential Solid Waste:  Rates and Services

The charge for residential solid waste service is $53.25 each quarter, and is billed in advance.  


The residential solid waste service includes twice-a-week collection of a 96-gallon cart, provided by ECUA.
• Santa Rosa customers can also voluntarily request a 96-gallon recycling cart that will be picked up once per week at no additional charge.
• Yard trash will be collected every other week. 
• Bulk waste will be collected upon request by the customer.  

The 96-gallon containers used for garbage and recycling in our automated system are provided free of charge by the ECUA and remain the property of the ECUA.  Up to three additional 96-gallon containers are available for $9.39 per quarter, per container.

When are my collection days?

Please follow this link: santarosa.fl.gov/bocc/solidwaste.cfm for all information related to your collection days.  Look for the box titled "Who is my service provider?"

When making your request for service, please include your name, service address and a daytime telephone number.  When applying for a new account, the customer should be prepared to present some form of identification (for example: driver's license, Military ID card, Florida ID card or student ID card). This information will expedite the service.

*Under Florida law, e-mail addresses are public records. If you do not want your e-mail address released in response to a public-records request, do not send electronic mail to this entity. Instead, contact ECUA by phone or in writing.

 

Solid Waste Collection Information:

The ECUA will provide twice-per-week collection of garbage in an ECUA-provided green 96-gallon cart.  Collections will be made on Monday & Thursday or Tuesday & Friday, depending on the customer’s location in Santa Rosa County. Please see this Map for your specific collection days.  To ensure that your collection is not missed, please place your garbage cart at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your assigned collection day, with arrows on the lid pointing towards the road.  At least three feet of clearance should be left between the cart and any other object, such as your mail box.  The lid of the cart should be closed, with no debris outside of the cart.  The ECUA will only provide a cart if the customer has subscribed for service.

 

Recycling Collection Information:

The ECUA will provide once-per-week collection of recyclables in an ECUA-provided 96-gallon green cart, with a grey lid.  Collection will be made on one of the customer’s two garbage collection days, depending on the customer’s location in Santa Rosa County.  Please see this map for your specific recycling collection days.  To ensure that your collection is not missed, please place your recycling cart at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your assigned collection day, with arrows on the lid pointing towards the road.  At least three feet of clearance should be left between the cart and any other object, such as your mailbox.  The lid of the cart should be closed, with no debris outside of the cart.  The ECUA will only provide a recycling cart if the customer has subscribed for solid waste service and has requested a recycling cart.  

Please follow the instructions provided on the lid of the recycling cart and refer to the list provided regarding the accepted items in our recycling program.  In order to help keep our recyclables clean, please do not place garbage, food waste, yard waste or building materials in the recycling cart.

 
 

Yard Trash Collection Information:

The ECUA will provide collection of yard trash every other week.  Your address will be assigned an even or odd week for yard trash collection.  You can find out if your address is on the odd or even yard trash collection week schedule by visiting the Santa Rosa County Website.  This calendar shows each week as an odd or even collection week.  Please see this map provided on this page for your specific collection days.

 
Please do not use your garbage or recycling can for yard waste, as yard waste is collected separately from household garbage.


Place bagged, bundled, or canned yard waste within two feet of the curb, and away from the street/road.Small yard waste, leaves, pine straw and grass clippings must be contained in standard garbage containers or plastic or paper bags that do not exceed 32 gallons in size, or weigh more than 50 pounds when full. Cut limbs should not exceed six feet in length, eighteen (18) inches in diameter or 50 pounds in weight, and must be bundled.  Bundles shall be securely tied. 

 

Bulk Waste Collection Information:

The ECUA will provide bulk waste collection service upon request of a current customer who has subscribed for solid waste service.  Bulk waste collection includes: furniture, white goods, electronics and other bulky items that will not fit in the automated garbage cart for collection.  The customer must contact the ECUA to schedule a bulk waste pick up.  Building materials and construction / demolition debris will not be collected as a bulk waste pick up.  Bulk waste should be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled collection day, at least three feet from any other object.  If possible, bulk waste should not be placed under tree limbs or wires to allow adequate clearance for the collection equipment.

 
 

Terminating Your Sanitation Services:

Please contact ECUA Customer Service when you are ready to close your account.  Once your account is terminated, the ECUA will remove the garbage and recycling carts from your address.  Please do not take your carts with you when you move, the carts remain the property of ECUA and will not be collected at another address.
